Is there any Apple Event in Spring?

There were rumours suggesting that Apple would hold an event on March 23, but that information turned out to be inaccurate. We now know that some new Apple products are slated for launch in April, but it is not clear if there will be an event. There are several products rumoured to be coming in the first half of 2021, with the possibilities listed below.

What will Apple be releasing in Spring 2020?

1. iPad Pro
2. Low-Cost iPad
3. Apple TV
4. Redesigned iMac
5. AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro

Will Apple be releasing their AirTags?

Apple AirTags are rumoured to be released in 2021, but we don’t know exactly when it is coming.

iPad Pro

The current Pro is almost exactly a year old, having last been updated on 18 March 2020. Normally the iPad Pro runs to a slightly longer product cycle than once per year – there were 17-month and 16-month gaps before the 4th-gen model – but there’s a little more urgency this year because the iPad Air (2020) stole the Pro model’s thunder so comprehensively (according to www.macrumors.com) so Apple is working on a new version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro that will feature a mini-LED display, camera improvements, an A14X chip, Thunderbolt connectivity, and perhaps a 5G chip. Most of the iPad Pro rumors have focused on a 12.9-inch model, but there is an 11-inch model coming too. Expect the new Pro to feature a mini-LED screen, 5G support, a tweaked design, and a new processor – most likely an A14X or A14Z(according to www.macworld.co.uk)

Low Cost iPad

Apple is developing a ninth-generation version of the low-cost iPad with a 10.2-inch display and a thinner build (6.3mm) that’s similar to the now-discontinued third-generation iPad Air. (according to www.macrumors.com)

Apple TV

Apple’s ‘hobby’ product never feels like it’s been taken seriously enough. It could be the hub of an Apple-based smart home, or an affordable multiplayer gaming system, but the company never quite got it right.

Perhaps that will change in April, when the long-overdue refresh is expected to happen. It’s been over three years since Apple last updated its set-top box, which is odd given the company’s current focus on televisual entertainment – namely its Apple TV+ subscription service.

We expect the updated model to get an A12X or A14X processor and its own dedicated games controller.

Redesigned iMac

We’re less confident that Apple is going to mention the Mac range, if for no other reason than time constraints, but there’s one particular Mac that is due for some attention. This iMac is also expected to have an Apple Silicon chip and an Apple-designed GPU. There are two versions in the works, and one will be 23 to 24 inches in size.

AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro

AirPods 3

Don’t expect the AirPods Max to get an update before autumn at the absolute earliest, but the standard and pro models of the AirPods are overdue for some attention. (according to www.macworld.co.uk)

Apple is working on a new version of the AirPods, which will look similar to the AirPods Pro, but without Active Noise Cancellation. The new AirPods will have a smaller case and a shorter stem, and will be more affordable than the AirPods Pro.

AirPods Pro

Apple is working on a new version of the AirPods Pro with a more compact design and a new wireless chip. (according to www.macrumors.com)
